Zach oversees WILDCOAST's conservation programs in the U.S. and Mexico. Zach joined the WILDCOAST team in 2008 as the Wildlands Conservation Program Manager helping conserve over 40,000 acres of land on the Valle de los Cirios Pacific Coast and has been instrumental in the improved implementation of 17,779 acres of marine protected areas in San Diego County.
Zach is a native of San Diego and has been surfing since 1991. He was the 2003 National Scholastic Surfing Association California collegiate state champion and runner-up national champion that same year. Zach competed around the world at the professional level and is still a sponsored surfer.
He holds a Bachelor Degree in Urban Studies and Planning from the University of California – San Diego and a Master Degree in Urban Planning from the University of California - Los Angeles.
