Tannia Frausto Illescas

Coordinator: Networking & Conservation Management (Mexico)

Tannia Frausto is WILDCOAST’s Wetlands Project Coordinator at our Mexico offices. Her main job is to support Mexico’s National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (CONANP) in improving the management and conservation of the 142 Ramsar sites in Mexico, the equivalent to 16% of the national territory.

Tannia graduated biology at the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN ) and received a master’s degree in Marine Ecology at the Center for Scientific Research of Ensenada (CICESE). Tannia has experience in monitoring reefs and sea turtle, and community engagement and environmental education.

Tannia enjoys walks around colonial cities and on the weekends she likes to escape the city and head to the many beautiful places around Mexico City.
