WiLDCOAST - YEAR 2013
In 2013, WILDCOAST continued to successfully fulfill our mission with high-impact programs and on-the-ground results. On Baja’s pristine central Valle de los Cirios Pacific coastline, we conserved an additional 5,422 acres and 3.3 miles of wild coastline. Over the past six years we have protected a total of 30,134 acres and 33.2 miles of this raw and beautiful coastline. In San Diego, in partnership with the State of California and local agencies and community groups, we are leading stewardship efforts to conserve 27.4 square miles of Marine Protected Areas that are home to bottlenose dolphins, leopard sharks, black sea bass, kelp forests and rocky reefs. In Mexico we partnered with fishing communities and coastal residents to establish seven WILDCOAST chapters along the Baja California Peninsula and in Oaxaca to help them safeguard the coastal and ocean treasures they hold dear.
