DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Position Title: Coastal Conservation Program Community Outreach Intern

The Community Outreach intern increases WiLDCOAST’s membership base, staffs informational tables, distributes outreach materials, and signs up volunteers for our program specific events.

Supervisor: Paloma Aguirre Coastal Conservation Program Coordinator

Goal of Position: To increase knowledge of intern on how to engage people in the Border Clean Water Campaign; gain understanding on how to network, increase knowledge of how to increase non-profit’s organizational membership base and staff community outreach events.

Sample of Specific Tasks:

1. Manage outreach materials and sign up sheets for informational tables at different events.

2. Have intermediate to advance knowledge of the Border Clean Water campaign to readily explain to interested parties specifics of the campaign and recruit new members.

Location/Worksite: South San Diego County (WiLDCOAST office) and throughout San Diego.

TIME FRAME July - September, 2010

HOURS PER WEEK- 4-8hrs

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications Sought:

1. Excellent verbal communication skills

2. Outgoing, energetic and enthusiastic personality

3. Basic Spanish speaking skills

4. Basic knowledge of word & excel

5. Ability to work most weekends
